Once Upon A ...Sketch: June challenge

[switching to English for this post]

I really liked this month's sketch at the Once Upon A Sketch challenge blog, and after noticing that the layout's theme should be "guilty pleasure", it was very easy to decide what to scrapbook about. Cake decorating, definitely, that's my quilty pleasure! And I had a photo to scrap, from the last cake decorating class I took.

The journaling, in Finnish, is about how, in cake decorating, I sometimes enjoy the process more than the outcome. In other words, there are times when I forget to actually use the decorative elements on a cake instead of just learning to decorate. :) That was the case for the topic of this photo, for example, because the photo's baby was never used on a cake. And to make things worse, I don't even feel that quilty about my "quilty pleasure", because I am learning cake decorating as I go and I know that there will be plenty of chances to use the skills later on, too.

The layout includes a lot of gesso, a lot of acrylic paint, some glimmer mist, a lot of heat embossing and stamping, some fabric, and some ancient rub-on letters used as the title. My goal was to make a dreamy, almost a cake-like (?) layout, where the photo blends into the rest of the page.

Thank you for the topic and sketch! The sketches are a constant source of inspiration.

  5. I have done cake deorations for many years myself, and I love the creative process and that craft, too. But the good thing about scrapbooking is that 1) the creations last longer 2) you don't gain weight by it *lol*
